This is the church we did an enormous amount of work on. The congregation had just taken possession of this building and they were trying to prepare it for their FIRST service in it, so we were called upon to help get it ready for church service that coming Sunday.

SOUTHSIDE COMMUNITY CENTER RVIM TEAM

I hope to have several pictures and verbage regarding the VIM team that just finished a 3 week team there in San Marcos, TX. Once, again, it was truly a wonderful experience and I want to share that with you, in the near future.. Maybe I'll have time, in the evenings, while I'm at UMOM in Phoenix, to work on getting the pictures and the write-ups on this blog, ok??
I appreciate your patience!!!!

ASBURY PARK, NEWTON, PLANS FOR RV PARK

I am in contact, currently, with Annessa, at Asbury Park, about the possibility of their getting the RV park graveled between now and the middle of April, so that we VIMers might just be able to bring our PDU to that site and have a place to park our RV's while we work at Youthville Newton...
I told them that we would be happy to pay them for the use of that space, rather than pay the RV park out north of Newton a high price or parking there... I'm thinking that $10/ day would be a reasonable price to pay for this convenience...
I'll let you know how things progress in this matter, ok? BUT, in the mean time, be praying and considering becoming a member of that VIM team.
I'm also working on the possibility of having room for non-Rvers, somewhere, but I don't hold a great amount of hope. The last time we worked at Youthville Newton, we drove back and forth. We may have to do that this time, as well...

YOUTHVILLE, NEWTON VIM TEAM

Time is fast approaching when we will be taking a VIM team to Youthville, Newton. I will be getting in touch with the Maintenance Mgr., there, very soon. I am also working with Asbury Park, Newton, to see if we can get their RV parking lot far enough along so that we can park our RV's there while we work at Youthville.. We can pay Asbury Park a fee which will be far less than the RV parking at the RV park and it will help Asbury Park as well as ourselves.
I'll keep you posted on the progress of things as they happen.
MAKE PLANS NOW, TO JOIN THAT TEAM!!

I have, also, been contacted by the Derby Woodlawn UMC about their interest in bringing a team to work with us on the Saturday Apr. 30th, while we are there.. That would require at least some of us to work that Saturday, to be of assistance to the Derby team, BUT it also gives us great visibility and the opportunity to meet several new prospects..
More later, when I know more, ok??

DYERSBURG, TN VIM TEAM 2011

Bill Ward, from our team
and Rev. Robert Craig,
from the Dyersburg UMC
who was our interface on
this project.
A wonderful guy to work
with and for...

DYERSBURG, TN VIM TEAM 2011

A picture of MOST of the RV's which made the team to Dyersburg..

DYERSBURG, TN VIM TEAM 2011

This is the MIGHTY team that went to Dyersburg, TN this winter for our FIRST visit to that city.. It had been flooded last May when Nashville, TN got all those rains and flooded something awful... almost 450 homes were heavily damaged in 'backup' waters from that flood.

DYERSBURG, TN VIM TEAM 2011

This was the shower house that was available to us. It was the same shower house that was at Greensburg following their tornado. IT WORKED VERY WELL.

DYERSBURG, TN VIM TEAM 2011

This is the house where we did all our work on this team. ALL the sheetrock had to be hung and all the insulation had to be installed. The temperature was a bit low several of the days but we had a good heater..

DYERSBURG, TN VIM TEAM 2011

Considerable work had to be done on several of the walls in preparation for insulation, plumbing, and sheetrock..

DYERSBURG, TN VIM TEAM 2011

All the walls had to have
insulation installed, both
for comfort AND for
noise reduction.

DYERSBURG, TN VIM TEAM 2011

AND the sheetrock has been hung and the mudding has begun.

NEWTON, KS ASBURY PARK VIM TEAM 2011

This is just one of the many buildings on the Asbury Park campus, where we'll be doing some work.. This is turning out to be a great project for our VIM teams..

NEWTON, KS ASBURY PARK VIM TEAM 2011

Every good Methodist
takes time out for a break
and/ or lunch. This team
is no different... God
bless them..

NEWTON, KS ASBURY PARK VIM TEAM 2011

Each and every hole in the walls had to be mudded, sanded, mudded, sanded to prepare them for vacuuming and painting..

NEWTON, KS ASBURY PARK VIM TEAM 2011

After the mudding is complete and sanded, the vacuuming begins in preparation for painting. This team has done a wonderful job on these homes..
